The impact of "Change a Destiny" program

In Romania, many children face tremendous barriers to education. With a school dropout rate of over 23% in rural areas (source: UNICEF Romania Report 2023), children are often left with limited opportunities for the future. This is largely due to the long distances between rural homes and schools in cities, coupled with the inability to afford accommodation and meal costs.

 

"I appreciate that I do not have to commute from home to school, which would have been exhausting, and that I can meet new children to socialize with. This program helped me realize that, through learning, many doors open in life, and for the first time, I feel like someone truly cares about us," said one child from the Change a Destiny program.

 

Aurelian is one of the children who might have missed his chance to attend the high school he wanted, but thanks to the Change a Destiny program, he is now on the right path. Like Aurelian, we aim to support all children in the program by providing the guidance and resources they need to stay in school, graduate and pursue university admission.
